St. George Hope Health Centre

The facility offers health and socio support programmes to the vulnerable community of Bugangaizi Kibaale District which experiences chronicle poverty, high level of illiteracy, poor hygiene and sanitation among households, poor nutrition, poor housing and clothing this lead to high prevalence rate of diseases such as malaria, dysentery, diarrhoea, malnutrition, skin diseases, abdominal diseases, STIs, and HIV&AIDS to mention but a few. General limitation to health information, and lack of family planning and reproductive health facilities, lack of PMTCT programmes, on top of area remoteness there are few service providers to help out the deserving population. This has culminated into high infant and maternal mortality rates, mother to child HIV transmission, increased witchcraft dependency, domestic violence, and all forms of social conflict.

OUR REQUEST

Any support rendered to St. George towards the mitigation of the said above challenges is welcome. This will help us offer comprehensive health services to the vulnerable rural population especially mothers and children.

SUPPORT SARS WATER PROJECT IN MID - WESTERN UGANDA

  • Water is a key strategic resource, vital for sustaining life, promoting development and maintaining the environment. Access to clean and safe water and improved sanitation facilities and practices are pre-requisites to a health population and therefore have a direct impact on the quality of life.
Children Drawing Water from a Man made Water Source
  • Despite Uganda being well endowed with significant freshwater resources, the country is faced with the challenge of low safe water coverage (59% rural and 65% urban, as of December 2011) approximately half of the districts are still below the national average of 63%. SARS is currently implementing a water purification project in Katikara trading center in Kibaale district mid-western Uganda. We believe the project will generate substantial results through production and delivery of purified safe drinking water and the project will contribute to the reduction of high level of mortality and disease spread among 6000 people, with the overall goal of community transformation, through improved community health, reduced water-borne sickness, and increased household incomes in target communities through safe access to clean water, sanitation and health services in support of sustainable agricultural development.
